Travel: Welcome to Kanchanaburi, Thailand

Thailand is a small country that contains many amazing things and attracts many tourists. It is one of the best country which is full of magnificent nature. Thailand is called “The Land of Smile” because Thai people are very friendly, easy to smile, and nice to everyone. Some people also think about spicy delicious foods, some about nice beaches or about Thai boxing which is the traditional sport of Thailand.

If we talk about interesting places in Thailand, there are a lot of interesting places spread in all regions of the country. However, there is one place I am proud to present. It is Kanchanaburi province. I've been there more than five times, although that is quite far from my hometown. This is why I think Kanchanaburi is the interesting place in my country.

Kanchanaburi is a town in the west of Bangkok. It is located where the Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai rivers converge into the Mae Klong River. Its location is at the edge of a mountain range keeping it much cooler than the other provinces of central Thailand. Kanchanaburi has a lot of beautiful nature and there are historical places since World War II.

Bridge River Khwae is a tourist destination now. The track was developed into a walkway with side platforms. This allows crossing the railway bridge on foot. These platforms are useful as viewpoints and for avoiding trains. The State Railway of Thailand also provides a little tourist train which we can drive across the bridge and back again at 20 baht for the 15 minute round trip.

Don-Rak War Cemetery is the final resting place of almost 7,000 Prisoner of War who lost their lives during the construction of the "Death Railway" in World War II, mostly Australian, British and Dutch. The cemetery is quit and sylvan, It is surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Erawan Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand and you must see if you are in Kanchanaburi. There are 7 levels with distance over 1.5 km. The waterfall fall over limestone cliffs so it looks like colorful pools. You can walk to each level on the paths and you can swim in some of the pools created by the falls. Around the park are also several caves where you can explore and see some amazing and wonderful limestone formation.

Beside of beautiful nature and historical places you can see in Kanchanaburi, there are still a lot of activities in Kanchanaburi such as fishing and bamboo rafting trip in Khwae river, elephant ride, mountain biking, shopping at souvenir shops which established near to the Bridge River Khwae, etc. There are various kinds of places and activities in Kanchanaburi. It is a great paradise places in Thailand which worth to spend your vacation here.
